Starting her career as a local coffee shop manager our Altitude Hospitality Sales Director, Mackenzie Maltby Tamayo, has over ten years of experience in the hospitality and restaurant industry. Her love of details and passion for creating lasting relationships and impressions is what draws her to event planning. She serves as the Sales Director of The Pinery at the Hill which is voted the number one event venue in Colorado Springs as well as Till Kitchen which is voted the number one restaurant in Colorado Springs. With ties to various businesses and nonprofits in the area, Mackenzie’s love of community is evident in her professionalism and efforts. She serves on the board of Converge Lecture Series which is a nonprofit started in Colorado Springs. Each year Converge Lecture Series brings four of the nation's leading poets, authors, and artists to The Pinery in Colorado Springs, Colorado to introduce passionate argument and art as an expression made in good faith to our community. She is a trained TESSA advocate and has worked with a myriad of events planning fundraisers in the community including Kidpower’s Chocoholic Frolic, The Colorado Springs School and the Boys and Girls Club. Teaming up with Sarah Evans Weddings, Mackenzie has curated a wedding show – Unveiled. The show hand selects industry purveyors that best represent quality, consistency and esteemed tenured reviews. Live music, crafted complimentary cocktails, lavish desserts, cutting edge food displays, art deco pieces, live models, trending mock-up tablescapes and the like create an unparalleled show unlike anything in Colorado. Unveiled comes twice a year to The Pinery at the Hill. Mackenzie believes that executing an event well means more than just details on paper, a successful event gives people a message about their value. With a degree in Professional Writing from UCCS, she spends her spare time as a published writer and speaking on topics like moral beauty, the power of the written word and ‘our lives as art’ at local events like Girl Crush Social Club and Journey Society. Michelle is an event and wedding coordinator at the Hill and has been with the company in varied capacities for years. Michelle has an incredible eye for detail and desires to help make your event as special and tailored to your expectations as possible. Chef Ben Hoffer is a Colorado native, having grown up in Manitou Springs. After graduation from Manitou Springs High School, Ben was accepted into the Pennsylvania Institute of Culinary Arts in Pittsburgh, where he attained his culinary degree. Greatly respected by his staff and peers, Ben oversees all full service catering for the recently combined Garden of the Gods Gourmet and Pinery Catering organizations. Ben specializes in International French fusion, combining other cuisines with classic French techniques.
Owner Mitchell Yellen is an entrepreneur, author, investment banker and financial engineer whose honesty and integrity has led to success both in his professional and personal life. He owns many successful businesses in the Colorado Springs area, including Garden of the Gods Gourmet Market & Café, Garden of the Gods Gourmet Catering & Events, Taste Restaurant and has exclusive partnerships with the U.S. Olympic Training Center, the U.S. Air Force Academy and the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center.
